Ignore The Numbers!

Just as we discussed on this blog in the post titled Look In The Mirror, Not In The Magazine and on our Facebook post linking to this article here, we want you to think in terms of health.

Of being your best you. Why? Because if you concentrate solely on the numbers; how much you weigh, how much you ate, how long you exercised, you aren’t necessarily going to lose the weight, get healthy, or be happy.

Case in point.


What you are looking at is fitness blogger Kelsey Wells and her Instagram image of herself in a sequence of three images “in chronological order: one of her at 145 pounds after having her son, one when she reached 122 pounds, and a current photo of her at 140 pounds.”

She explains in the caption: “I have gone up two pant sizes and as a matter of fact I ripped those skinny jeans wide open just the other week trying to pull them up over my knees. My point?? According to my old self and flawed standards, I would be failing miserably. THANK GOODNESS I finally learned to start measuring my progress by things that matter — strength, ability, endurance, health, and HAPPINESS.”

She looks fantastic because she feels fantastic. That number on the scale, that number on her clothing tags, they mean nothing. Because feeling good means you are healthy and happy.
